The EZedge is a solid stainless steel device that installs on a stationary belt sander to hold the sanding belt up above the sanders bed. Evenly sanding convex shapes is nearly impossible on a stationary belt sander. The EZedge solves this problem by lifting the sanding belt off the sander bed allowing the unbacked area of the sanding belt to form a convex shape when pressure is applied. This quickly and accurately creates smooth curves with no flat spots. The bump of the belt seam which tends to bounce the work on the belt is also eliminated making fine work much easier and more accurate. The unsupported belt area between the roller and the EZedge is allowed to flex and follow the contour of convex shapes with the natural action of the spring tensioning system built into the sander. This movement allows the sanding belt to flex both down and also from side to side following variable compound curves. For the price of a couple of belts the EZedge lets economical hardware store variety sanders work like high priced slack belt sanders for a wide range of uses.
